Pastoral Care
Whether you are encountering challenging situations, such as times of grief and loss, illness, and major life changes, or finding yourself needing to celebrate recovery, new life, or new opportunities, you are surrounded by a caring faith community at Holy Trinity. Through prayer and presence, the clergy and parishioners at Holy Trinity support one another by offering listening ears, loving hearts, and the willingness simply to be present to one another at times of joy and sorrow. However you find yourself, if you are in need of spiritual care and companionship and want to reach out to clergy or a member of the pastoral staff, please call 336-365-0750.
Intercessory Prayer: For those requesting private prayer, a group of nearly 30 intercessors reverently offer prayers. Confidentiality is important to many and is observed and maintained by the intercessors. Gale Robins monitors the private prayer requests, communicating by email with the group. Private prayer requests can be given to any staff member and/or emailed to Gale at galerobins1946@gmail.com. Additional intercessors are always welcome. Contact Gale if you would like to join this loving group.
Community of Hope: This ministry serves to create a community of lay pastoral caregivers united in prayer, shaped by Benedictine spirituality, and equipped in pastoral care ministries. COH’s training helps to awaken trainees to God’s call by helping individuals better understand their spiritual gifts for ministry. Contact Roger Black at rrblack78@gmail.com.
Condolence Note Writers: This faithful group of volunteers writes notes to those who are bereaved. If you’d like to be a part of this or would like more information, please reach out to Libby Haile at hailemartin@aol.com.
Eucharistic Visitors: Eucharistic Visitors share the Eucharist with those who are unable to attend church. Visitors are caring and compassionate persons sensitive to the needs of others who connect members to the larger Holy Trinity community. All Eucharistic Visitors are required to receive training and be licensed. Contact Rev. Mark Lile-King at mark@holy-trinity.com.
Faith and Grief: The Faith and Grief community meets the second Thursday of the month and is here to support those going through loss…through encouragement, conversations, and sharing of personal stories. Visit FaithandGrief.org for additional information or to register. Contact Linda Snow at lindavsnow@gmail.com for more information.
Caregivers Circle: More and more people find themselves thrust into the role of family caregiver for a spouse, parent, or other loved one. It’s a challenging, stressful job, one most of us are not immediately equipped to handle. Caregivers Circle provides an opportunity for caregivers to come together monthly to share the frustrations, heartaches, and the joys of caring for a loved one.
Meets on the second Thursday, Worth Parlor, 1 p.m. Contact Bill Furlow at billfurlownc@gmail.com.
Compline and Healing Meditation is offered the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Dr. Bev Vaughn opens the evening with a short healing service incorporating various types of meditative practices such as mindfulness and Reiki followed by Spiritual Director Gale Robins who leads Compline. Contact Gale at galerobins1946@gmail.com or Bev at bjsvaughn@gmail.com.
New Child Ministry: The New Child Ministry is one of welcome, connection, and support to infants and young children (through birth or adoption), and their families. If you are expecting a child, let us know so that we may rejoice in the news as well as provide a meal and small gift. Volunteers are always welcome to join our New Child Ministry to either prepare a meal, deliver a meal, or both. To join or to share the news that your family is growing, please contact Julie Buie at julie@holy-trinity.com, or the church office at 336-272-6149.
Prayer Opportunities: Public prayer requests are printed in the weekly bulletin and included in Sunday Prayers of the People. Prayer requests may be given to Parish Administrator Annie Slaughter at annie@holy-trinity.com, clergy Rev. David Umphlett at David@holy-trinity.com and Rev. Mark Lile-King at mark@holy-trinity.com, or staff members.
